A leading multi-disciplinary journal’s performance indicators began to deteriorate as a result of clogged editorial pipelines caused by backlogged manuscripts. Additionally, high attrition among the in-house team contributed to the quick accumulation of manuscript backlog.
It was important to clear the submission backlog and improve the submission-to-decision time to restore the journal performance to its benchmark. The backlog of unprocessed submissions had to be promptly addressed.
